In April 2012, Green Island Construction Company Limited (GICC) was incorporated as a wholly owned subsidiary of IDC. The prime object of GICC is to carry on the business of building and civil engineering contractors. Other objects include furniture manufacture, concrete manufacture, property investment, property management and the importation, stock and trade of building materials and equipment.
New BuildingsGICC has constructed major new buildings including Espace (pictured opposite) contributing significantly to the development of Seychelles. Espace was opened in June 2014. It is a 6,500 square metre complex with four floors and an open stage, home to shops, food outlets, government offices and the headquarters of the Cat Cocos ferry service.

Building ExtensionsGICC is also well equipped to undertake major building extension projects. In mid-2016, GICC completed work on the six-storey Independence House Annex, between Independence House and Stad Popiler. Construction work began in November 2014 It was financed under a Private Public Partnership (PPP) mechanism through an investment vehicle named Green Tree Investment. Under the arrangement, Government has made available the land while Green Tree Investment has raised necessary financing.
