Islands Development Company Overview:Islands Development Company (IDC) was incorporated on April 29th 1980 to create a structure to enable the economy of the outer islands to be developed. IDC is committed to providing consistent, prompt and courteous service and to work towards ensuring that development activities for the outer islands are done in a sustainable manner. We actively support environmental conservation and the protection of ecosystems and species within the outer islands and Silhouette.

The company's activities include the provision of air and sea links throughout the outer islands of Seychelles, as well as the construction and maintenance of infrastructure to support economic activities, including tourism and agriculture. We also provide facilities for the management of electricity generation and distribution, potable water treatment, sewerage and solid waste treatment facilities. We build, manage and maintain airfield facilities, as well as harbour and maritime infrastructure. IDC provides all of our islands with an inventory of food and essential supplies, including medical equipment. We provide medical and medivac facilities as required. IDC maintains law and order and manages national emergency plans for the outer islands. IDC also provides facilities - including accommodation, transport and equipment - for our environmental partner Island Conservation Society (ICS). ICS runs conservation centres at premises provided by IDC on Alphonse, Desroches, Farquhar and Silhouette. We also support ICS expeditions to other islands, including Astove, Cosmoledo and Providence.
